What We Do
Aylesford Parish Council is responsible for providing many services to the parish community, some of which are less obvious than others. If you have ever wondered what we do, please read on:
Core responsibilities
- The recreation grounds, open spaces and associated playing equipment
- Allotments at Aylesford & Eccles
- Aylesford Cemetery & St. Peters (closed) Churchyard
- Car parks at Belgrave Street, Eccles and Tunbury Hall
- Parish street lighting
- Grant aid to the Village Halls & voluntary organisations
- Commenting on planning policies and applications
- Representing parish views to other organisations
The parish council owns around 100acres of land. The main council-owned recreational facilities are:
Aylesford
- Forstal Road Recreational Ground (+ natural land to the north)
- Ferryfield Recreational Ground
- The Hollow, Greenacres
- Coronation Gardens, The Square
- Old Bridge Gardens
- Gardens on south side of the river, next to the Old Bridge
- (In addition, Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council own the public open space accessible from Russett Close)
Eccles
- Recreation Ground, Bull Lane
- St Marks Square
Blue Bell Hill
- Recreation Ground, off Common Road
- Podkin Meadow
- Dew Pond site, Laurie Gray Avenue
Walderslade
- Tunbury Recreation Ground
- (In addition, Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council own the public open space - woodlands and meadow - at Taddington Valley)
